dear Olympics.

Dear Olympics,

Thank you for everything.
Thank you for allowing us to show the world what our country is all about.
Thank you for allowing us to show the beauty of Vancouver.

Thank you for Michael J. Fox; he showed the world what hope looks like.
Thank you for Marianne St-Gelais and Charles Hamelin; they showed the world what a great hug looks like.
Thank you for Joannie Rochette; she showed the world what true courage looks like.
Thank you for Virtue and Moir; they showed the world what grace looks like.
Thank you for Alexandre Bilodeau; he showed the world what brotherly love looks like.
Thank you for Jon Montgomery; he showed the world what a Canadian celebration looks like.
Thank you for the Men's Hockey Team; they showed the world what teamwork looks like.
Thank you for all of the moments; they showed us what the Olympic Spirit looks like.

Thank you for giving families something to bond over.
Thank you for giving children something to strive for.
Thank you for giving the world something to cheer about.

Thank you for showing us that no matter the colour of our skin, our age, our language, our religion, or our backgrounds...the world is brought together by the spirit of competition and the spirit of patriotism.

Thank you, from all Canadians, for tattooing the Maple Leaf on all of our hearts, and for reminding us that we all bleed the same colour across our country: red and white.
