tears.

I've decided that I will upload some other photos from our trip to Europe a little later. Today, I wanted to write about another photo. I took the picture above in downtown Toronto, right outside the Court House.
I saw this woman, sitting on the steps, and upon a second glance, I saw that she was crying. I took a photo and the result was this shot.
I honestly hadn't thought again about the photo other than thinking that it was a pretty good shot. I later submitted the photo to be displayed in a gallery at my University. Then one of my friends saw the photo hanging in the gallery, and told me that it moved her almost to the point of tears. She told me that she had experienced hardship in her life, and felt that this photo had captured not only the hardships that she went through, but that all people go through.
She told me today that she plans on having the photo put put onto a canvas and hung in her living room one day.
I cannot even begin to express what hearing these words mean to me. It makes me feel accomplished...artistic...happy...good. It inspires me to not only continue taking photos, but to continue to learn and get better.
If I ever start to stray away from my photography...all I have to do is think of this friend...and I'm sure I'll pick up my camera right away.
